Nicolet Above State Average in Graduation Rates

Nicolet High School has exceeded the state’s average graduation rate by quite a large margin this year, but hasn’t quite reached 100 percent.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction recently released the average graduation rates for the 2009-2010 school year. The “legacy” graduation rate, the standard since 2004, is 89.9 percent. That means Wisconsin had 64,687 public school students graduate, an 89.4 percent increase from 2008-2009.

However, according to Superintendent Rick Monroe, Nicolet saw 97.1 students graduate during the 2009-2010 school year. That’s a 7.2 percent increase over the state’s average.

Monroe said considering there are things outside of the school’s control, like personal and health issues, he’s very happy with the 97.1 percent graduation rate at Nicolet.

Two Glendora Schools Rank in the Top 10 Percent Statewide

Of the five elementary schools in Glendora Unified School District, two schools – Cullen Elementary and Sutherland Elementary – ranked in the top 10 percent statewide, according to rankings from the California Department of Education.

Based on each school’s base Academic Performance Index (API), the state ranks schools academically on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 representing the top 10 percent. The score is calculated for elementary, middle and high schools based on scores of the Standardized Testing and Reporting Program and California High School Exit Exam.
