Stalemate between Archdiocese, Catholic school teachers continue

The stalemate between the Philadelphia Archdiocese and the Catholic high school teachers seeking a new contract continued into a second week as thousands of students reported to classes.

While the negotiations continue, students were left taking standardized tests on their first day back to school.

According to the Office of Catholic Education, standardized testing that had been scheduled for later this month was administered to freshmen and sophomores on Monday, due to the continuing teacher strike, and testing is expected to continue today.

After five months of negotiations between the Archdiocese and the Association of Catholic Teachers, union members voted to go on strike Sept. 6, which included teachers at Bishop Shanahan High School, who have been picketing in front of the school every sc…………… continues on Daily Local News
