Oswego School Board approves teacher salary increases, architect for high schools

Earlier this week, the Oswego School Board approved labor contracts with teachers and support staff that include raises, as well as a construction contract for additions to both high schools.
In a unanimous vote, the board approved an agreement with the Oswego Education Association, representing more than 1,000 teachers, department chairpersons, learning resource center directors, speech pathologists, counselors and certified nurses, for 2.1 percent salary increases for the current school year. Some teachers could also earn raises from 5 to 6.75 percent for completed master’s degrees or other certification.

When you gotta go, you gotta go, but it’s not that easy for the 634 students at a downtown Brooklyn high school.
For the past month a single toilet inside the nurse’s office at Science Skills Center High School was the only one open, forcing students to endure bladder-busting waits whenever nature called.
The school wasn’t at a loss for loos, though. Administrators kept four other fully operable bathrooms locked up to prevent kids from misbehaving and getting violent in them, according to staff and students.
