Child center chief takes over department

In the midst of Kilgore College’s Child Development and Education Program’s 25th year, former Early Childhood Center director Lara Pauley has been moved up to the position of the child development department coordinator.

“I now oversee the Child Education Development Program Department,” Pauley said.

Pauley held her previous position, now held by Katie Moses, for 11 years. Moses was an adjunct instructor with the development center for a year before she was promoted last month.

“I oversee the day-to-day activities of the Early Childhood Center,” Moses said. “I also teach early education classes for Kilgore College.”

As coordinator of the child development department, Pauley looks over the ECC activities, in addition to a number of new duties, such watching over classes and faculty programs. Like Moses, Pauley also teaches multiple courses at KC.

The child development department opened 25 years ago alongside the Early Childhood Center. To this day, the ECC continues to offer a caring environment for children 18 months to 4 years old.

“We promote child care for people in the community,” Pauley said. “It’s first come, first served.”
