THE Obasanjo Foundation has appealed to Jigawa State government and security agencies to enhance security of girl-child education in Jigawa, as the Foundation is set to take over female schools in the state, this month.
This was disclosed by the director on strategic partnership, focusing on girl-child education, Madam Susan Mensah, on Tuesday, while leading a team of professionals to inspect the school and conclude the 10 year agreement between the foundation and the state government.
Mensah said “the former president had earlier came to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) some weeks ago, we are now here with some of our partners such as NTI to meet with the teachers and inspect facilities in the school.”
She said “we have met with the teachers and seen the facilities and structures, however, the buildings still need renovations. By what we have seen, there is the need for new hostels and teachers also need additional professional training. We also need to recruit more female teachers,” she stated.
