Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah has said that the State government is according top priority to girl child education.

Taking part in a series of programmes in Dharmasagar and Station Ghanpur mandals here on Friday, he said the government had come up with new welfare schemes to promote the education of girl children. Girls in rural areas should make use of the facilities being extended by the State government.

Mr. Rajaiah inaugurated a Kasturba Gandhi Girls High School built under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) at an estimated cost of Rs. 125 lakh at Mupparam village in Dharmasagar mandal.

Addressing students, he said he was like them in the past but education had made all the difference. “Just because of education, I became a doctor and now I am the Deputy Chief Minister of the State. You all must study well and achieve your goals,” he said. The Deputy Chief Minister launched the fine rice distribution programme at Pedda Pendial village. He said the quality of rice being supplied to hostels and pregnant mothers would help them get nutrition.
